Who is Required to File a Personal Tax Return?

In Canada, you must file a personal tax return if:

  • You owe taxes or want to claim a refund.

  • You received a request from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

  • You are self-employed or have business income.

  • You want to access benefits and credits, such as the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), GST/HST credit, or provincial benefits.

  • You have sold property (e.g., real estate, stocks) or have capital gains/losses to report.

Even if you don’t fall into these categories, filing a return can help you access valuable benefits and credits!

What We Offer

  • Individual Tax Filing: We handle all aspects of your personal tax return, ensuring compliance with CRA regulations.

  • Maximized Deductions and Credits: Our experts identify all eligible deductions, such as RRSP contributions, medical expenses, tuition credits, and more, to help you save money.

  • E-Filing Services: Fast, secure, and convenient electronic filing to get your refunds quickly and efficiently.

Benefits for Students
Students in Canada can claim Welcome to Canada Benefits (Carbon Tax rebate, GST/HST credit, etc.) plus tuition tax credits for eligible education fees, and deduct student loan interest.  If you moved more than 40 km for school, moving expenses may also be deductible. Working students may qualify for the Canada Workers Benefit (CWB), a refundable tax credit.  Let us help you maximize these benefits and reduce your tax burden!

When is the Tax Return Due?

  • Deadline for Most Individuals: April 30 is the deadline to file your personal tax return and pay any taxes owed.

  • Self-Employed Individuals: If you or your spouse/common-law partner are self-employed, the filing deadline is June 15, but any taxes owed are still due by April 30.

  • Late Filing: Filing after the deadline may result in penalties and interest charges, so it’s best to file on time!  Plus, you would be missing out on a lot of benefits.
